Marilyn F. Nold Scholarship established at Woodring College of Education at Western Washington University

BELLINGHAM, WA. August 1, 2007 – A housing scholarship in memory of educator Marilyn F. Nold was presented to the Woodring College of Education at Western Washington University from the Nold family and Madrona Bay Real Estate Investments. The annual scholarship will award annual housing financial assistance to one student pursuing teacher certification through the College.

“This generous scholarship is greatly appreciated”, said Michael Henniger, Associate Dean of the Woodring College of Education. “Enabling a student in the College to live rent free for three academic quarters is a significant financial contribution that may make the difference in whether or not an excellent student completes their teacher preparation program and enters the profession.”

“Our family is very excited about this opportunity to give back to teaching profession,” said Claire Nold-Glaser. Marilyn Nold was an elementary teacher and spent many years teaching and substituting in Puyallup, Seattle, Port Angeles and Stanwood.

“Marilyn Nold was a dear and beloved family friend,” said Morgan Bartlett, president and owner of Madrona Bay Real Estate Investments. “As I grew up, Marilyn always welcomed me into her home as part of her family. The opportunity to work with the family to honor Marilyn, and give back to the teaching field that Marilyn was a part of is the least I can do.”
