Morgan Bartlett's first foray into developing a retail mall is looking like a well-timed decision.
Bartlett is developing Bakerview Square, an 110,000-square-foot mall at Eliza and West Bakerview Roads, near the T-Mobile call center. Even though the first phase isn't expected to be completed until later this month, he already has most of the tenants in place.
"In talking to potential tentants, there is certainly a lot of optimism out there," said Bartlett, who did multifamily residential projects before tackling Bakerview Square. "I get a sense from these people that Bellingham has grown to the point where more retail is needed."
