Costco Given Go-Ahead to Start Work

The City of Bellingham issued site work permits on Tuesday, July 28 which enable Costco to begin clearing and grading the site for its new store. The new store across from Fred Meyer on West Bakerview is planned to be about 162,000 square feet, almost 30,000 square feet larger than their existing store on Meridian Street. The Costco warehouse will be part of a area that also includes two additional retail shopping centers and a residential development.

Costco does not yet have its building permit as it is yet to finish submitting stormwater drainage and road construction plans to the City.
