Planned Development Permits Issued for CityScape

The City of Bellingham has issued Planned Development Permits for CityScape. With these permits issued, Madrona Bay Real Estate Investments will now submit for building permits. CityScape is a 520,677 square foot project. The 8-story building will have 426 apartment suites  (studios and 1-bedroom units) with various amenities and a mixed-use retail component. There will also be 4 parking levels with 445 parking stalls, under the building, The goal for CityScape is to break ground in Spring 2019.

Public Meeting to Introduce CityScape

Madrona Bay Real Estate Investments will be hosting a public meeting to intro CityScape. The meeting is scheduled for 6:00 pm, September 5, 2017 at 424 W Bakerview Road, Suite 109, in Bakerview Square.

The current plans for CityScape call for a 10-story apartment building with 426 apartment units, an attached restaurant, additional commercial space and a parking garage.

Bakerview Costco to Open Nov. 19

The new Bellingham Costco store is on target to open Saturday, Nov. 19. The 162,000 square foot store on West Bakerview will increase traffic and exposure to business in the area. To accommodate the increase in traffic the City of Bellingham has made traffic improvements and more are scheduled, including plans for a new northbound on-ramp to the freeway. The city is having an open house on Tuesday, October 25 at Alderwood Elementary to show plans related to the I-5 overpass at Bakerview.

CityScape Project Featured in Bellingham Herald

Dave Gallagher of the Bellingham Herald today published an overview of the CityScape project being planned by developer Morgan Bartlett. The project calls for a 390-unit apartment complex at 1427 W. Bakerview Road, to be located across the street from Fred Meyer and near the proposed Costco store. At this time the plans are to break ground next spring and have people moving into CityScape around March 2017.

Costco Given Go-Ahead to Start Work

The City of Bellingham issued site work permits on Tuesday, July 28 which enable Costco to begin clearing and grading the site for its new store. The new store across from Fred Meyer on West Bakerview is planned to be about 162,000 square feet, almost 30,000 square feet larger than their existing store on Meridian Street. The Costco warehouse will be part of a area that also includes two additional retail shopping centers and a residential development.

Costco does not yet have its building permit as it is yet to finish submitting stormwater drainage and road construction plans to the City.

Planning Committee Set to Review Plans

The City of Bellingham Planning Commission is set to review plans for a 60,000 square foot retail center next to the proposed Costco on Bakerview Road. The meeting is set for March 26 at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council chambers. PMF Investments, the developer of the proposed center east of the Costco site also plans a 142,000 square foot center immediately west of the proposed Costco. Filed paperwork says PMF Investments plans to have the east retail center completed by 2016.
